Preschool Curriculum

At West Street Toy Box, our main goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment. For us, safety is our number one concern. We feel that if we cannot insure your child's safety, they cannot possibly learn. With that being said, our main priority after safety is your child's education and development.

Every month we provide our teachers with a program, that is themed based. They get to chose from the program activities they feel will meet the needs of the children in their class. This allows for the lesson plans to be more individualized with the group and each child. Each morning our preschool class-time consist of child directed learning time, circle time, and a teacher directed learning time. These are the times where the teachers plan to incorporate letters, numbers, shapes, colors and self discipline activities.

Our goal for your child is by the time they are ready for kindergarten, they will be able to recognize and write letters upper and lower case, numbers to 20, and their first and last names. We work on learning to tie shoes, cutting, gluing and all the other skills they may need for kindergarten. We work with them on self-discipline and learning to handle conflicts with others in a positive manner.
