Meet the Owners
West Street Toy Box Child Care Centers has been family owned and operated since 1974. Dawn Murphy is the current owner. She has owned it since 2002. James and Naomi Morrison were the original owners, they are Dawn's grandparents. Deanna Murphy, Dawn's mother also owned the center for 13 years, she now works for Dawn.
Dawn has 18 years of experience working in the child care industry. She has been working with children since she was 15 years old. She has worked in every capacity of the child care facility, from Assistant Teacher to Lead Teacher; from cook/maintenance person to Owner/Director. Since the center and its needs have always come first for Dawn, she is still working on her Early Childhood Education degree, she hopes to have that by the time she is 40! She has however, taken over 500 hours of workshop or conference training throughout her 18 years of experience. One thing she feels passionately about is continuing education. There is so much out there to learn, especially in the child care industry.
